Koci: Several Kosovo police officers mentioned as witnesses from Serbia in Arbnor Spahiu case

Former Kosovo Police Special Operations Unit member Arbnor Spahiu is suspected by Serbian authorities for “grave murder in Banjska” A group of armed Serbs attacked the Kosovo Police in September 2023, killing Sergeant Africa Bounjaku, said the lawyer committed by Spahiu's family, Arian Koci, in [...]
He added that as witnesses in the Spahiu case, specifically accused of killing three Serb attackers who clashed with the Kosovo Police in the village located in the northern part of Kosovo, some Kosovo police officials are mentioned.
Koci said the defence has already filed a complaint against the month-long detention decision.
Spahiu was detained on June 7th at the Hungary border crossing Serbia, while traveling with his family from Germany to Kosovo. According to Koci, this was the first time Spahiu has passed through Serbia.
Spahiu is currently being held at the Subotic detention centre, and “is fine and has been visited by doctor”.
Koci has been staying in Serbia this week, but has not met Spahiun. He said that, so far, Spahiu was visited only by the Serbian lawyer, assigned on official duty, as well as by his uncle, but there was no communication with other family members.
According to Koci, the Serb Intelligence and Security Agency (BIA) has built criminal speculation against Spahiu, under which the former Kosovo police officer was “sniperist in this operation”.
He never touched the sniper, and he was very young in the Special Unit, and after a short time he left the police, and went to Germany”, Koci told REL.
His departure in 2022 by police confirmed earlier on The REL and the Kosovo Police.
According to Koci, the criminal outcry to Spahiu is brief and unreasonable.
He added that they expect complaints filed as safeguards to be approved, in co-operation with the Serbian lawyer, appointed on official duty. Koci said that “this only has political cootation”.
The names of five-six persons who are considered as witnesses at this stage are all former army colleagues in the police, who are in Kosovo”, Koci said.
According to him, if Serbia says Kosovo Police have killed three Serbs and all police officers will be prosecuted, then why there is another criminal procedure for [Millan] Radocchiqi in Serbia?”
Under the law in Serbia, the “heavy murder” is sentenced to a minimum sentence of ten years in prison, or to life imprisonment.
For the attack on Banjska where, according to Serbian authorities, the inclusion of Spahiu Kosova has allegedly accused Serbia, but the latter has denied any responsibility.
The responsibility for the attack has been taken over by Milan Radojic, former deputy chairman of the Serbian List in Kosovo, believed to be in Serbia.
This week, at the Constitutional Court in Pristina, the trial of three of the 45 accused of terrorism, terrorism financing and serious criminal acts in the Banjska case is continuing.
Investigation into this attack is also conducting the Office of the High Public Prosecutor in Belgrade.
Kosovo institutions have called on all its citizens and those living in the diaspora to avoid passing through Serbia when traveling to Kosovo.
Meanwhile, in a Facebook response, incumbent Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that Serbia's <x0 natural behaviour towards citizens of the Republic of Kosovo should not and will not accept normalisation of”.
