For the 39th time in a row, Kosovo Assembly deputies failed to constitute the new legislature.
The commander of KFOR, Italian General Enrico Bardon, has commented on this situation in an interview for RTV Dukagini.
Although he stressed that his mandate is largely military and KFOR does not intervene in domestic political issues, Bardon underlined that the “security environment is also influenced by the political situation”.
According to him, although there is currently no direct impact on overall security from this political impasse, institutional stalemate is a carefully followed development by the mission NATO in Kosovo.
“Pics first let me underline how KFOR commander my interest and duties are mainly and generally military. However, it cannot help but underscore that the security environment is also influenced by the political situation. We do not interfere with Kosovo's domestic policy, but at the same time we are following political developments in Kosovo, including elections for parliament that have been held in February. Although we do not have any direct impact on the current political stagnation in the security situation, we encourage all parties to find a way to move forward that is to the benefit of all the parties living in Kosovo”, Bardoni has said./Periscopi/
