Iranian state television said residential areas in Tehran were hit and civilians were among those killed, including children, although this could not be independently verified.

Israel has declared a state of emergency, saying the country expected counterattacks “in the near future”.
Iran has accused the US of supporting the Israeli attack, which the US strongly denies. President Trump said he was aware of the attacks in advance, but stressed that the US did not play any role.
