An adviser to Iran's Supreme Leader has called for missile attacks on American Navy ships and closure of the Hormuz Strait, a key route to oil transport.
After America's attack on the Fordow nuclear power plant, it is now our turn”, warned Hosseyin Shariatmadari, editor-in-chief of the hardline newspaper Kayhan, a popular conservative voice who previously identified himself as “representative” The Supreme Leader, Aiathalah Ali Khamenei.
A message in Telegram from Kayhan quoted Shariatmadari as saying: "Without hesitation or delay, we should launch missile attacks on the Bahrain-based U.S. Navy and also close the Hormuz Strait for American, British, German and French ships. ”
There has still been no official reaction from Supreme Leader Khamene to the US attack on Iran's nuclear facilities.
Israeli leaders have thanked US President Donald Trump after the US attacks on Iranian nuclear plants, describing the attack as crucial and historic, the BBC writes.
President Isaac Herzeg said the attacks are a crucial “moment”.
On the pages of human history, this is a moment when the principles of freedom, responsibility and security have triumphed. A crucial moment between the axis of terror and evil and the axis of hope”, he wrote in an X post.
Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said the attacks made the US-Israel alliance stronger.
“Aleance between the United States and Israel is now stronger than ever for the sake of peace and security for both nations and for the entire free world”, Katz said.
Iran, on the other hand, has requested an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council, a letter issued Sunday urging the council to condemn US attacks on its nuclear facilities.
In the letter, Iran's ambassador to the UN, Amir Saeid Irrani, called the US attack a <x0 serious threat against regional and international security”.
He confirmed details of the attack, which targeted the Fordow nuclear plants Nataz and Isfahan in the early hours of Sunday morning.
