As diplomatic talks between Iran and European representatives continue in Geneva, below we bring a summary of key statements given prior to their launch.
French President Emmanuel Macron said France and its European allies would submit Iran a diplomatic proposal to end the conflict with Israel, but stressed that Iran “should show will”. Macron has presented four main pillars of this proposal, reports The Guardian, broadcast Periscopi.
British Foreign Minister David Lammy said that “now exists a two-week window to reach a diplomatic solution”, following US President Donald Trump's statement, which said it would decide within two weeks whether to join Israeli attacks on Iran.
Meanwhile, Israeli Ambassador to the UN in Geneva Daniel Meron said he expects European foreign ministers to seek a full “withdrawal of the Iran nuclear programme”.
On the other hand, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arghchi said earlier that Iran would not enter negotiations with the United States as long as Israeli attacks are not stopped, according to Iranian state media.
While the shootout exchanges between Israel and Iran have not ceased with Israel that was hit this afternoon by a new wave of Iranian attacks.
