Iran's foreign minister has condemned the US attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities, warning they will have “eternal consequences”, CNN reports.
This morning's <x0 events are terrible and will have eternal consequences”, Abbas Arghchi said in an X post, adding that Iran “rezeros all options to protect its sovereignty, interests and people”.
“The United States, a permanent member of the UN Security Council, has committed a serious violation of the UN Charter, international law and the Treaty for Nonproliferation of Nuclear Arms (NPT) by attacking Iran's peaceful nuclear installation”, he wrote.
Iran has spent decades developing its nuclear programme and views it as a source of national pride and sovereignty. He has insisted the programme is only for peaceful energy purposes.
The nuclear plants require a fuel called uranium, and according to the UN nuclear agency, no other country has the kind of uranium that Iran currently has without also having a nuclear weapons programme. This has fuelled doubts that Iran is not fully transparent for its intentions./Periscopi/
