The February 9th election is causing serious consequences for the country.
Researchers at the Kosovo Institute for Justice (IKD), Naim Jakaj, in interview for Economy
Online, estimates that, along with the current consequences, negative impact is expected to deepen in months
Next.
April 15th, when the Assembly was to be dedicated, the consequences are on two plains: on the outer and internal level. On the outer level, the consequences are now obvious. Kosovo has failed to be part of the agenda to become part of the Council of Europe, and for this issue the parliamentary majority -- the party which has the right to propose the Speaker of the Parliament -- and then goes with the mandate vote. The second issue, which in the absence of the Kosovo Assembly, is now failing to receive funds in the European Union's Growth Plan, initially by not voting or holding two international agreements” on hold, Jakaj said.
He warned direct consequences for citizens, noting that increasing the price of energy for businesses from June, under the free energy market, will also affect the expensive of basic basket products for citizens.
This will directly affect everyday life. As for the domestic level, reforms in justice, pension and social systems are delaying, as well as fiscal policies.
Currently Kosovo is in the minus due to the aspects I mentioned. If the next two or three months go by without the constitution of the Parliament and without government formation, the situation can usually deteriorate even further. The consequences will be even more serious for the country”, Jakaj warned.
IKD surveyer also highlights the approaching summer vacation, as the Assembly may not build further.
On July 31st, even if the Assembly is established, it goes on vacation, unless it is decided otherwise because of its issues. Imagine the situation that a non-constitute country goes on vacation on July 15th. What we know, both MPs and others, is not about being part of the holiday. This is also recorded in our IKD reports. We do not expect another seat to be better”, Jakaj said./Periscopi/
