Kosovo's Hydromethorological Institute has called on citizens to protect themselves from snake bites, listing a series of recommendations on how to act in case of bites.
IK The KPS wrote on Facebook Wednesday that you should wear long clothes and boots when walking in nature and using sticks to control bushes or stones “before taking a step of”.
The institute has recommended that you avoid high grass and unclean alleys while keeping the yard and environment around the clean house, removing stones, piles of wood and bushes.
According to the IKSHPK, most snakes in Kosovo are not poisonous, but viper bites, known as the most poisonous snake in Europe, can be very dangerous.
Stay calm and don't move too much. Keep the bitten limb motionless and below your heart level. Call 911 (194), police (192) or go immediately to the nearest health center. Don't touch or cut the bite. Do not absorb or suppress poison from the bite. Do not put a belt or tie on any type of bite wound”, says the institute's recommendations. It is also recommended that snakes not drown.
