The arrest of five persons suspected of co-operating with the Serbian Secret Service (BIA), within just over a year (three Albanians and two Serbs), is the result of successful operations led by the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (AKI), in co-operation with the Police and Prosecutors.
These cases, in addition to proving Serbia's continued efforts to destabilise, confirm our success in uncovering and dismantling Serbian intelligence networks in Kosovo.
The cases include attempts to rewrite history with the intent to tarnish the KLA war and deny the Recak massacre; infiltrate international organisations and extremist religious circles with the aim of damaging security and state image. One of the suspects (A.V.), after facing evidence, has already pleaded guilty.
AKI, in co-operation with local and international mechanisms, has shown remarkable efficiency, advanced analytical and operational skills in protecting sovereignty and constitutional order.
I invite citizens to be attentive and committed to efforts for a stable and unbreakable Kosovo to any form of threat. Successful treatment of these cases should serve as an example of increased awareness and strengthening the common front for national security.
