According to him, this region is not a daily priority for the US and solutions should come from within.
“Balkan is, of course, unfinished business in Europe, but people in the Balkans must understand that other things are happening in other parts of the world. So they should not expect people to put aside the problems they are dealing with, whether in Ukraine or in the Middle East, and say: All right, Kosovo, we'll try to help you with this”, Hill says in an interview given Radio Free Europe.
He stresses that Kosovo should advance the establishment of the Serb majority municipalities' Association, he says Serbia too has work to do, but underlines that it is helping Ukraine its top priority in Europe, according to him.
The fact that we are trying to manage some of our interests with Serbia does not mean that we are against Kosovo. We also have many interests in Kosovo”, Hill says.
He further added that Kosovo and Serbia must solve their own problems.
I think there will be an effort by the US to encourage Balkan countries to start solving their own problems. I think that the time when countries came to us or to any Western European state to complain about their neighbours, [is over] and people are tired of this”, he said. /Periscope/
