Hegseth says America was not surprised by Iran-Israel escalation

Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth said on Saturday that the United States was not caught unaware of Israel's unprecedented wave of attacks on Iran's nuclear targets and top military leaders this week, or the recent escalation between the two nations.

I wouldn't say we were really surprised by any collision dynamics. This has been continuous, but we are monitoring it closely,” said Hegseth.

Hegseth said the US is well prepared to protect its personnel and interests in the region reports CNN, broadcast Periscope.

We are firmly determined to ensure that our people are based, our interests are safe, and we continue to monitor any force we need to do this, the skills we need to do this, we will keep Americans safe,” Hegseth said.
