Another shocking event has hit Italy -- a 45-year-old woman of Albanian origin named Gentiana Hudhra -- has been brutally stabbed Saturday afternoon in the small town of Tolinentino, near Macera.
The attack took place unexpectedly in one of the city's most populated areas, on the Viale Benadwei Street, where the woman was hit several times with a kitchen knife in front of shocked passersby.
The alleged crime author is her former husband, a 55-year-old also of Albanian origin, who did not try to escape after the attack. He was found by carabiniers sitting on a bench near the scene, in a confused state and without resisting arrest, reports Top Channel, broadcast Periscopi.
The event occurred late in the afternoon in an area attended by citizens. Eyewitnesses indicate that everything happened in just seconds. The woman was shot on the sidewalk with several stabs, and despite her cries and the immediate reaction of passersby, medical help could do nothing to save her life.
Emergency services confirmed death in the country as police immediately launched investigations to whiteen the full dynamic of crime.
The victim had lived in Tolaentino for several years and was a mother of two grown children, aged 21 and 23, whose marriage to the suspected author was. The couple had been divided for three years and so far no previous episodes of violence or threats have been reported.
Authorities are questioning family members and acquaintances to better understand the relationship between the couple and whether there were warning signs that were neglected.
According to preliminary sources, the 55-year-old is suspected of having had disorders of psychic nature. However, he has not resisted during the arrest and is currently in custody, while forensic assessments and investigations into his mental state are expected.
The event has shocked the local community and sparked strong reactions in Italian media, as well as in the Albanian community in the region, reopening the debate on violence against women and the need for more efficient prevention measures. /Periscopi
