Haxhi's Kurt is late: Close eyes and ears for inhuman treatment of former KLA leaders in The Hague

It has been nearly five years since former KLA leaders are being tried at The Hague for war crimes and crimes against humanity. Since then, Hashim Thaci's defence, Kadri Veselini, Jakup Krasniqi, Rexhep Selimi and others have repeatedly complained about the injustices being committed to them. Protests were staged for these injustices, but by the Kurti Government, no step was taken, exactly from the Ministry of Justice, writes Periscope.
Even though he was declared interested in visiting, incumbent Prime Minister Albin Kurti had hesitated to meet the forms that were requested by the Special Court.
I've been thinking about visiting The Hague and I've been interested in going, but the main factor that stopped me from going is that a lot of documents should be filled out, forms to sign in Special Court documents. I didn't mean to do that, I've been considering it, and today I think it's a mistake that”, Kurt said at the time.
Like its chief and incumbent Justice Minister Albulen Haxhiu, over four years has done nothing in connection with what is happening in The Hague.
Four of the gravest offences the Special Court committed against former KLA leaders
Limitation and Hearing of Talks
The Hague Special Prosecutor had proposed strict detention rules for Thaci and others.
The Specialised Prosecutor's Office had demanded that Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veselin and Rexhep Selimi be suspended for visits and all communications except with their lawyers, but leaves the opportunity only for a narrow list of people who should be approved in advance by the court
The SPS has said that those three have committed violations by revealing the identities of protected witnesses and disseminating the contents of confidential evidence to those who have visited them at the Pre-burg Centre.
It is noteworthy that the Special has been harsh with restrictions on visits when the accused lost family members.
Meanwhile, several days ago the media reported that Thaci and others have also complained about extreme restrictions on basic communication with lawyers.
“Inhuman treatment” How were former KLA leaders ignored by ombudsman in The Hague
KLA leaders have complained of “inhuman treatment” from the Pre-trial Unit, as well as of a host of other serious violations that, according to them, have been ignored by the ombudsman, although he is mandated precisely to address such cases.
They have even informed him that with this silent approach, he has violated the Constitution and the laws of Kosovo, as well as the European Convention on Human Rights.
As reported in the media, the Ombudsman near the Specialised Chambers was insincere when, in April of this year, during an interview for T7, downplayed the pre-medited, reducing them to “anques for food and prison rules”.
Such a statement, as media sources have said, does not in any way present the true state of KLA leaders in custody.
Rejecting Kosovo Police Guarantee for Bailing Former KLA Chiefs
Kosovo police are looking inadequate in the eyes of the Specialised Prosecutor at The Hague.
The prosecution has recently handed in statements as it expresses dilemmas for the Kosovo Police's capacities.
This to implement domestic arrest, as a milder measure for former KLA leaders.
The documents reveal that one of the problems The Hague Prosecutor has mentioned to the police is encrypted messages.
The procedure expresses concern about the lack of information about the police's ability to detect encrypted messages. The defence reiterated that it has never been suggested that Mr. Wessel used encrypted messages. Furthermore, the registry's ability to detect encrypted messages has never been explained, and the alleged inability of the Kosovo Police to do so has never been confirmed unless they are said to be aware of confidential information on the issue. Even in the absence of specific information on the issue, however, the sound reason dictates that the linguistic and cultural proximity of the Kosovo Police should make them at least, if not more capable, discover the coded messages”, it says on this parachute.
Getting Evidence Through Serbia
What has been sharply criticised is the fact that the court had accepted evidence from Serbia as credible in the case of Thaci and others. This was not well received, considering that Serbia is a hostile country towards Kosovo, and has hostile attitudes towards the KLA.
