German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has warned that Russia's President Vladimir Putin understands only the power language and that the <x0historic “summit” NATO, which starts Tuesday in The Hague, aims to ensure peace in Europe for future generations.

Merz has told the Germany Parliament several hours before the summit that Putin continues to be determined that Ukraine should be part of Russia.

He has pledged that Berlin will pay “the share belonging to” to protect Europe.

US President Donald Trump is the way to The Hague to participate in NATO's first summit since 2019, where leaders are expected to pledge to spend 3.5 percent gross domestic production in defence and 1.5 percent in rough infrastructure.

Before summit begins, Secretary General NATO, Mark Rutte, has told European colleagues not to worry about American commitment to the Western alliance and focus on investing in defence and supporting Ukraine.

He has insisted that the US president and the top leadership are “fully devoted” to NATO.

Rutte has said Europe and Canada have already pledged to allocate over $35 billion in aid to Ukraine this year.

Ten people have been killed in Russian attacks in Ukraine on Tuesday, while the German Chancellor has said that each attempt to send Russia to the negotiating table has been unsuccessful, writes the REL, broadcast Periscopi.

The missile attacks in the eastern town of Dnjipro and the nearby town of Samar have left 11 people killed and injured 150 others, according to regional chief Serhiy Lysak.

A number of children have been injured in the Dnjipro attack, as the missile has damaged a kindergarten and a passenger train.

Another rocket attack in Sumi has left three people dead, including one child.

Ukrainian President Voldymyr Zelensky has arrived at The Hague and is expected to meet with US President Donald Trump in the margin of the NATO summit.

This will be their first meeting since the meeting held in April at the Vatican on Pope Francis' funeral day. /Periscopi
