According to the AFP report, the move comes as part of the new policies of Chancellor Friedrich Merz's government to curb immigration.
Under the law adopted in Bundestag, refugee families who enjoy secondary protection will not be able to apply to join them in Germany for a two - year period.
The AFP has explained that secondary protection is given to refugees who do not meet the criteria for political asylum, but risk torture or death sentences in their country of origin, so they are granted the right to temporary residence for humanitarian reasons.
Regarding this change, Interior Minister Alexander Dobrendt has indicated in Bundestag, saying the decision reflects the government's priority for <x0 humane and rule” in immigration policies.
“While Germany remains open to the world, the capacities of our social systems have their borders,” has said, broadcast Express.
He has therefore stressed that education, housing and health care systems are under great pressure, so immigration should be limited in line with capacities./Periscopi/
