Democratic League of Kosovo MP Arben Gashi said that Vetevendosje's attempt to establish the way of the secret vote for the election of Parliament's chairman “defines the fundamental principles of democracy”, in addition to being “and anti-unconstitutional”.
He wrote on Facebook that the Constitutional Court has made this point clear in the latest act on the constitution.
The Constitutional Court has clearly confirmed: the election of the Parliament's president is by open vote, according to regulation and practice thus far. Any change in this procedure could happen only with the special motion, adopted by two-thirds of the deputies present and participating in the vote. Any attempt to decide the voting way arbitraryly by the chairman of the session is not only unacceptable, but also unconstitutional and violates the fundamental principles of democracy”, he wrote.. /Periscopi/
