One million foreign tourists visited Albania in May, 95 percent from Europe

In May 2025, Albania has experienced a high influx of visitors, according to the latest data of Albania's Statistics Agency (INSTAT). During this month, over 1.6 million Albanian and foreign nationals have entered the country, marking a 4.3 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2024.
Only foreign tourists have been over 987 thousand, representing a 1.4 - percent increase compared to May of last year. Among them, 95 percent have been citizens of European countries, namely 72 percent from South Europe, and 14 percent from Western Europe, reports Trt Global, broadcast Periscope.
The main purpose of visits has been tourism. Vacation entrances account for 98 percent of the cases, with an increase of 0.9 percent compared to May 2024.
In addition, during January 2025, a total of 3.4 million foreign tourists have visited Albania during the same period.
Tourist expectations remain high, especially for the summer months, when Albania usually records the biggest tourist flows. /Periscopi
