The Kosovo presidency has announced that today, through the exchange of letters with the European Union, the EULEX mission's technical mandate has continued.
According to the presidency, Osmani has stressed that “this technical mandate, so without executive power, remains focused on aspects of monitoring, mentoring and counseling”.
In her letter to EU Chief Diplomat Kaya Kallas, Osmani has demanded that EULEX forward the authorities of the Republic of Kosovo to all documents it possesses from the time it had an executive mandate.
“... has also demanded that all EULEX activities be in line with the European Convention for Human Rights and the European Court of Human Rights's judicial practice”, the report says further.
EULEX has extended its mandate until June 14, 2017.
The decision was made on 5 June by the European Union Council. According to the preliminary decision, the mandate of this mission was until 14 June of this year.
“Within EULEX strategic review COSOVO, the Political and Security Committee agreed that the Mission's mandate will be extended until 14 June 2027. Nothing in this decision should be understood as violating the independence and autonomy of judges and prosecutors acting in the context of EULEX judicial procedures COSOVO”, in decision./Periscopi/
