Currently, passengers in Europe have the right to obtain compensation between 250 and 500 euros, depending on the distance of flights, for delays of three hours and more.
Air agencies, however, complain that this regulation costs them a lot, and they are often forced to cancel flights because of chain effects, it follows. Periscope.
Most EU countries have agreed on Thursday to change the rules, exceeding Germany's objections, in particular, after hours of negotiations in Luxembourg.
Under the new system, the compensation threshold will increase to four hours for flights of up to 3,500 kilometers, or for flights within the European Union, and the amount will be 300 euros.
For longer flights, the 500-euro compensation rights will be implemented after a six-hour delay.
The European Association of EUUC Consumers has criticised the plan, saying the new <x0-2-5-2-2-5-2-5-euro threshold will be unable to make the majority of passengers the right to compensation” since most delays are between two and four hours.

French Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot has said he is satisfied with the compromise.
