According to the company, the blast occurred at the Starbase testing site near the town of Bronsville in Texas, while preparing for its tenth flight. SpaceX has described the event as a key “anomali”, while stressing that all employees are safe.
Meanwhile, Elon Musk, through an X post, said:
“It seems that a COPV nitrogen in the cargo section failed under test pressure. If the investigation confirms this, it will be the first time this happens to this project”.
COPV is a gas storage pressure vessel, widely used in space technology.
The incident comes just weeks after another Starship test failed.
But despite repeated events, Elon Musk has called one of the <x0 bombings a minor obstacle”, insisting that such tests are part of technological progress.
