On April 1, a serious traffic accident occurred in Sich, where a car struck a leg until the same was waiting to cross the white foot lines.
As a result, the victim suffered serious bodily injuries and remained for more than a month at the KKUK Intensive Clinic.
After 34 days of stay in this clinic, the victim Zana Gjevukaj died.
The suspect in this case is the silver Kastrati police officer, who has been in house arrest ever since.
And about three months after that, the deceased family has come up with a reaction, expressing their disappointment with the organs of justice.
That is because the move against the suspects, police official Kastrati, has not changed to that of detention.
“Zana passed away on May 4th 2025, after being hit in white lines by a police official. She died after 34 days at the intensive centre in Pristina. The suspect has been in house arrest since the accident's day, now three months. Although two months have passed since Zana's death, the measure has not been changed in detention”.
“We have waited patiently and quietly for justice organs to act responsibly and fairly. But that didn't happen. As a victim's family, we are deeply disappointed by this approach. Domestic arrest for a resulting death case is unacceptable”, the family response reported.
The family in response also expresses concern over the indictment filed against Kastrati, which says the “does not reflect the seriousness of the case and does not include any of the serious circumstances”.
“Zana was hit on white lines, by a police official with advanced speed and no bra, as the expert confirms. Another car had stopped to give priority, showing that Zana was visible and of full priority. Failure to include these facts in the indictment makes institutional treatment even more disturbing”, the family said further in response.
The family says convinced that “if this case did not include a police official, justice would have acted differently”.
Zana Gjevukaj's family has shown the hope that this case will serve as a public and institutional awareness that cases of dangerous driving, especially with fatal consequences, will be dealt with with with with the maximum seriousness and with the right legal responsibility.
“No uniform should protect anyone from justice”, the Govukaj family said at the end of the response.. /Periscopi/
