According to foreign media, the main topics of discussion among leaders will be security for Ukraine, trade deals, US tariffs and industrial co-operation, including the French-Italian automotive company Stellantis.
We remember that Macron, pro-European and a long report with Donald Trump, has had more independent attitudes for the EU, while Melon, nationalist and with a strong transatlantic orientation, is closer ideological to Trump and aims to keep Europe closely linked to the US.
While disagreements between leaders were highlighted even more in recent months, including Melon's absence at meetings with Western leaders for Ukraine and reactions following the Macron public statements.
However, French and Italian officials have stressed that Tuesday's meeting and labour dinner will be a chance for improvement and showing respect and friendship towards each other. /Periscopi
