President Vjosa Osmani, Prime Minister Albin Kurti, Defence Minister Ejup Macedonia and US Embassy in Kosovo employee Anu Prattipati participated in this event on Tuesday.
General Wegscheider said it was an honor to serve as the Division Commander in the presence of Kosovo's highest leadership.
“has been an honor to serve as the Commanding Post of Division here for President [Osman] Prime Minister [ Kurti], Minister [Macedonia] and, most importantly, my new friend, General Jasharin”, he said.
He stressed that the exercise was commanded by the United States through an advanced communication network linking American headquarters with tactical mail in Gjakova, where four multinational brigades from the region and international partners participated.
“We have commanded from the United States with the main command post, with all systems and communication platforms across the ocean to the tactical command post here in Gjakova, with four multinational brigades from Bulgaria, Albania, Northern Macedonia, Croatia and with the help of all other friends, including our partner Lithuania”, Wegschider stressed.
He praised the level of interaction achieved during the exercise and singled out the contribution of the Kosovo Security Force (FSK) as essential to the success of this operation.
“on any core mission task we have set to exercise and verify, we have succeeded. In my opinion, we have demonstrated complete interaction. And I'll end with this: I've been here many times, in this beautiful place. Every time I come back, I'm impressed. I spent a few years of my life here. The true hero of this exercise, out of the 18 participating countries, with blood, sweat and much stress, the real hero is the nation of Kosovo”, he said.
The general also praised the KSF soldiers who, according to him, demonstrated skill, determination and commitment throughout the exercise.
“KSF, General Yashar's staff, officers and NCOs, but most importantly, KSF soldiers that are down this valley to... south, sweating and proving their strength and determination. For us, it has been an extraordinary pleasure to be here and we look forward to working again with all the countries soon to”, Wegscheider concluded./Periscopi/
