Constitutional Court ruling: A core option to unblock Kosovo Political Process
The Council for Albanian-American Relations is closely following developments in Kosovo and remains deeply committed to supporting any efforts strengthening Kosovo's democratic institutions and its international position, particularly the stable partnership with the United States. We are deeply concerned by the continuing political stalemate and failure to forge the Assembly in line with the will of citizens. This institutional paralysis is unwarranted. It undermines public confidence, weakens the state and leaves Kosovo vulnerable in an increasingly unstable global context, said in response.
Furthermore, the Council for Albanian-American Relations has also welcomed the Constitutional Court's act, saying the ruling in question offers applicable ways forward.
In the communiqué, it also says parliamentary parties should agree to the election of the Speaker of the Parliament without further delays.
We commend the Constitutional Court for its timely decision and welcome recognition by key political actors that this decision offers a viable road forward. Kosovo has a proud tradition of respecting rule of law and constitutional authority. This moment requires the same commitment. We encourage all parliamentary parties to enter the upcoming meeting with a sense of urgency and unity, and to agree on the election of Speaker of the Parliament and formation of the new government without further delays. The country has to move forward, add to the communique.
On the other hand, it is also stressed that support from the United States is vital, but the same requires effective governance and sustainable co-ordination.
