United Nations Secretary General Antónnio Guterres warns that there may be extraordinary “consequences to <x0-x1> if the fighting between Israel and Iran continue to escalate.
In a statement issued by his office, Guterres says: “I am deeply alarmed by the continuing military escalation in the Middle East between Israel and Iran”.
The UN chief reiterates his call for an immediate ceasefire, adding that any further <x0-based military intervention may have tremendous consequences, not only for those involved, but for the entire region and for international peace and security in general”.
Guterres urges UN member states to fully implement the UN Charter and international law, saying diplomacy is the best way to address security issues in the region, the BBC has reported. /Periscopi/
