Kosovo Business Alliance Chairman Agim Sahini says business protests are not common, but that have occurred and will happen on Wednesday, as all possibilities for dialogue with the country's Government are exhausted. According to Sahin, after leaving the free market, businesses are costing them at least three times the cost of electricity so far, and for most of them it is unaffordable.
“We, the businesses we've chosen to ask for our rights by protesting, as we'll do on Wednesday 11 o'clock in Pristina Square, we have hundreds of thousands of workers and also hundreds of millions of dollars' circulation with an extraordinary contribution to the economy. The increase in prices of up to 250 and 300% is the biggest hit ever to businesses. Such an increase in tariffs in this measure has never occurred. With this increase, if a business paid around 400 thousand euros, with this monthly increase in bills for energy alone would amount to over 1.3m euros, and that for most is unaffordable,” added Sahin.
On the other hand, the head of GDP has also commented on government statements that businesses that are protesting are only 1% of businesses in the country and do not present their real voice.
The government and all institutions this 1% of businesses should deal with them in the best way possible, not toy them with labels, because this 1% of businesses have 50% of their entire annual business circulation, and also about 50% of employees in the private sector are employed in these businesses and keep the economy active. Some of these businesses have up to 40,000 and 5,000 workers. If they were closed, our economy would drop on the coughs”, Sahin claimed.
Government failure to postpone a year's market exit, according to Sahin, will affect the rising prices of all products, which citizens themselves will pay, so indirectly this will also hit each citizen's pocket. /Periscope/
