The corporation has already announced to other actors in the sector that on Saturday, electricity production from KEK thermal power blocks will be zero. So it nominated zero megavat electricity for the supply network, an unprecedented development in post-war history.
This information, while not yet officially confirmed, comes from safe sources within KEK and COST, which signal an alarming situation in the country's energy system.
According to these sources, the 24-hour daily nomination, usually announcing the distributor and other energy sector actors for expected production by KEK, is zero, meaning that to cover daily consumption Kosovo will be fully supported by import.
This situation, with zero production of electricity from Thermocentrals, occurs for the first time in 25 years after the war. Field experts who have worked for decades at KEK, contacted by Infocus, have claimed that such a situation does not ever remember this, at least not in the past 25 years of postwar.
“There have been temporary defects, maintenance or interruptions of one or two blocks, but never in history has it happened to be out of place to all the thermocentric production units, at the same time”, points out a senior engineer, former technical manager at KEK.
This situation is no coincidence, but the result of continued institutional and managerial degradation. Over the past four years, KEK has been involved in numerous scandals, technical failures and the collapse of public credibility.
Despite this report, KEK has announced it has returned to A3 operation.
