The black marks of Kurti Government: Only “AutoMita” received an estimated 10 million Euros for rented cars from the government

Portal FrontOnline has investigated the tenders the company has won “Automita”, which is importative and distributor of brand cars “Renault”, “Nisan” and “Dacy<7> in the Republic of Kosovo, and according to documentation found in 2021 and half of the year 2025 “

Except for the company “Automita”, similar contracts worth 6.8m euros have received the company “Mercom”.

Prime Minister Kurti and Minister of Commerce Roseta Hajdari had visited this month during April.

Besides contracting for purchase and renting of cars “Mercom” has also benefited grants from the Ministry of Commerce.

Questions have also been sent to the Ministry led by Rosetta Hajdari about the value of grants that has benefited from the state “Mercom Company”, but from this government dictatorship they have returned no response to the portal's address.

Neither “AutoMita” nor “Mercom Company” have answered questions about contracts they have won from Kosovo state institutions during the 4-year period.

Ferat Shala accuses Kurti Government of misuse of budget in supply and official auto service

The millions of expenses of central and local institutions for purchase and rental cars are being criticised by opposition and civil society representatives in the country.

Democratic Party of Kosovo MP (PDK) Ferat Shala, for FrontOnline has sharply criticised Kurti Government for, as he has called it, misuse of the state budget in the direction of government luxury.

“Government Kurti has been scandalously using Kosovo's budget to add government luxury” said Shala during a media conference.

He raised concerns about the significant increase in car spending by state institutions.

One of the disturbing statements is that this government within a mandate, some over 9m euros has spent only on cars and on their service. ” he said.

According to him, these costs are the highest ever during such a time period.

These amounts are higher than in any government within the same time period. ” Shala added.

Shala stressed that this issue has also been addressed in the Kosovo Parliament's Financial Commission, where disturbing data has been presented.

“Financial scandals and poor budget management in cars, there was also a topic of discussion at the Commission for Finance, where we have seen the staggering amounts spent by this government,”, he said.

AV ONET criticises vehicle expenses: Tools should be used for purchase, not cars with exploitation

AV Network Executive Director ONET, Kenan Gashi, for FrontOnline has criticised the way the country's institutions are managing expenses for official cars, calling this practice unfair and harmful to citizens.

“The actions of how the government pays taxes for cars in exploitation are at the expense of the citizen because that device, that car, can no longer exploit Kosovo institutions,” said Gashi, stressing that these are worthless investments for equipment that does not remain owned by institutions.

He has stressed that public tools should be used for purchase of equipment that remains in the service of institutions.

With these tools you should buy equipment, not rent it. This is an unfair form. ” he added.

Gashi also recalled the stance of the Vetevendosje Movement when it was in opposition, stressing that the government's current behaviour conflicts with the opinion it had built earlier.

“The VV has rejected these actions as in the opposition to take such cars and this is continuing this trend, and that is contrary to the opinion it has created. ” he points.

Dragusha from Democracy+: Transparency is especially needed when it comes to issues that have previously been politically disputed.

The representative of the organisation Democracy Plus, Ardit Dragusha, has spoken about FrontOnline about the expenses of Kosovo institutions for car supplies and service, stressing the importance of transparency and compliance between political positions and actions in government.

“In general terms, such a situation raises legitimate questions about coherence between the political attitudes expressed in opposition and concrete actions during the exercise of power, said Dragusha, underlining the contrast that may arise between promises and governance practices.

Although he said he could not comment on specific cases without deeper analysis.

He also stressed the need for institutions to be open and accounting when it comes to using public funds.
