At the opening of the press conference, Berisha praised Bukoshi's figure as one of the most important personalities of the modern history of Kosovo and the Albanian issue in general.
“A distinguished personality, a staunch native, a state-made and dedicated. It was the first prime minister of the Republic of Kosovo and President Ibrahim Rugova's closest associate,”- Berisha said.
He stressed the key role Bukoshi has had in creating and functioning parallel state structures in Kosovo during the years of Serbian occupation, as well as in its representation in the international arena.
“Buyar Bukoshi made a major contribution to organising the parallel power of the oppressed Albanians in Kosovo, eventually removing them from the control of the invaders. He was a skilled diplomat and fittingly represented the Kosovo issue in the free world Chancellors,”- added the Democrat leader.
Berisha also underlined that Bukoshi has played an active role in supporting the Kosovo Liberation Army, as well as in co-ordinating it with government-organised defence forces in the area.
He did everything during the war The KLA and government forces were co-ordinated in action and fighting. This was a crucial period for Kosovo's freedom bid,”- Berisha said. /Periscope/
