Albania's President Bajram Begaj attended the IV International Conference on Funding United Nations Development, together with leaders gathered in Seville, Spain.
In his address, Begaj said Albania is committed to developing the skills and empowerment of young people.
“Funding for sustainable development should be central to the well-being of people. Economic policies and social justice are inseparable. In Albania we are engaged in developing the skills and empowering of young people, expanding social protection and improving quality health and education care services”, he has said.
President Begaj spoke of reforms undertaken by Albania, underlining that the process of financing for development is more than an agenda in the technical framework.
“As a developing country with clear reforming orientation, Albania has noted visible progress in promoting inclusive growth, strengthening democratic governance and increasing accountability. Investments in education, health, digital infrastructure and renewable energy have become our strategic priority”.
“We are implementing fiscal reforms to increase transparency and impartiality in the tax system, and we are working intensifiedly to ensure that public spending is oriented towards meeting sustainable development targets”, it has indicated.
Begaj also said membership in the European Union remains a strategic priority for them.
“Albania increasingly joins growing speculation about a reformed global financial architecture to be more comprehensive, more representative and more capable of coping with the numerous and interrelated crises that characterize the time in which we live”.
“Development funding should not remain a slogan. Albania also recognises the essential role regional co-operation has in releasing the potential for development financing. We are actively engaged in initiatives that strengthen regional trade, improve cross-border infrastructure and promote knowledge sharing among neighbouring countries. Membership in the European Union remains a strategic priority of our country”, the Albanian president said further. /abcnews. al/Periscopi/
