At the conclusion of the Southeast European Co-operation Process Summit (SEECP), Albania's President Bajram Begaj made his stance on the joint declaration adopted clear.
During a statement to the media, he confirmed that Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina refused to sign the document, while all other participating countries supported it.
He also said the sanctions imposed on Kosovo are unfair.
The regional co-operation for us is important, because any solution peacefully and co-operatively through dialogue will bring development, bring prosperity, bring stability and peace to our entire region. In fact, we had an attitude today, it was Tirana's statement. It was certainly voted on by most Southeast European Co-operation Process member states. It was rejected by Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, who have their right not to adopt the joint declaration. We agreed that the issue of sanctions imposed on Kosovo, an issue that I have stated in all my public appearances, is an unfair issue, an issue that had to be resolved long ago, and tomorrow is very late, because sanctions have not been imposed for Kosovo politicians, sanctions have been imposed on Kosovo citizens, to have good public services.
It is an additional statement, which is marked by the protocol, made based on all international laws made by Pristina. Belgrade and Sarajevo had their claims on security issues, but I think security is not just inside our house, security is a more widespread term and definition, more broad, and whatever happens today in the world is a danger to stability not only where it happens, but to all the countries of the world. We have understood very well what happened to the unjustified Russian aggression against Ukraine, which brought, above all, problems not only for countries involved in the conflict, but also for other countries in the collapse of the supply chain”, Begaj said.
