A serious incident has shaken the state of Minnesota in the early hours of Saturday morning, where an armed man dressed as a police officer has opened fire on two politicians and later on to rule forces.
About two o'clock in the morning with the American clock, police were summoned to the residence of Minnesota State Senator John Hoffman, after reporting that he and his wife had been shot. The officers immediately arrived at the scene and offered their first aid to the couple, who were then transported to the hospital.
Just later, about 3:35, during a search at the home of State representative Melissa Hortman, the officers noticed a police car with lights lit in the courtyard and a person dressed as a policeman leaving the apartment. Upon seeing him, the armed individual opened fire on them, causing a gunfight and then managed to escape the scene.
According to authorities, a major research operation is under way by Brooklyn Park Police, officials of Hennepin County Sheriff, Minnesota State Patrol, FBI and Criminal Investigation Bureau. They suspect that the same person is responsible for both attacks.
Brooklyn Park Police head Mark Bruley has warned citizens to be very careful:
If someone knocks on the door and says it's a cop, make sure they call 911 to verify his identity. The dispatch center will confirm whether he is a police officer or not.”
This incident has raised serious concerns about security and the way the rule forces are identified in the community.
