Turkish President Recep Tayip Erdogan has said he plans to strengthen the country's preventative capabilities so that no country dare attack him.

Erdogan announced plans this week to boost production of long-range and medium-range missiles in Turkey, while fighting between
It becomes known that he discussed the Iran-Israel war with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in a call.

Erdogan told Merz that the Iranian nuclear issue can only be resolved through negotiations.

Despite Turkey's tense relations with Israel, analysts and officials do not see an immediate threat to the spread of conflict in NATO member Turkey.

However, some see Erdogan's move as a sign that the Israeli-Iran War could trigger a new arms race in the region, with countries not directly involved in conflicts that are stepping up their military efforts to prevent future conflicts, writes APFollow Periscope.

The Israeli Army refused to comment on Turkey's plans to increase missile production, but Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar responded to Erdogan's criticism of Israel of his attack on Iran.

He accused Erdogan of having <x0 imperialist” and that there is “set a record in suppressing the freedoms and rights of his citizens, as well as the opposition of his country”.

Erdogan, meanwhile, said that “are making production plans to bring medium- and long-range missile reserves into an action level that ensures restraint in light of the latest” developments.

At God's will, in a not too distant future, we will achieve a defence capacity so strong that no one will dare to act harshly against us”, Erdogan said.

It is reported that in a separate speech a few days later, he stressed Turkey's progress in its developed defence industry, including fears, combat aircraft, armoured vehicles and naval ships, but stressed that continued efforts are needed to ensure complete restraint.

“Although Turkey has a very large army -- the second largest in NATO -- its air power, its air defence, is relatively weaker”, Ozgur Unluhisarcikli, a Turkish analyst in the German think group Marshall Fund, said.

By contrast, since the beginning of the conflict, Erdogan has been trying to end the hostilities.

He has been conducting a series of phone calls with leaders, including US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Peskian, offering to act as <x0) facilitator” for the resumption of negotiations on Iran's nuclear programme.

In Turkey, there are deep concerns that a prolonged conflict will cause power cuts and lead to the refugee movement from Iran, with which it shares a 560km-long border.

Turkey relies heavily on energy imports, including from Iran, and rising oil prices due to the conflict could exacerbate inflation and further strain its troubled economy.

It has sharply criticised Israel's actions, saying Iran has the legitimate right to defend against Israeli attacks, which occurred while nuclear negotiations were under way. /Periscope/
