Public statement by Arbnor Spahiu's parents

We are Arbnor Spahiu's parents. Our son is currently in custody in Serbia, on the basis of an unfair and groundless accusation.

We want to publicly clarify that Arbnor has resigned on November 1st 2022. and has lived in Germany from then on with his wife, pursuing a quiet and orderly life. The event he was accused of took place a year later, at a time when he was not part of any institution and had no role that would link him to that case. Any attempt to link his name to an event involving him is not only unfair but also harmful.

That is why we, as parents, consider his ban a serious violation of his rights as a citizen, which conflicts with any principle of justice and legal logic. He is innocent and has nothing to do with the story he's being held for.

We prefer international institutions, human rights organisations and public opinion not to keep silent in the face of this injustice. Each person deserves a fair and honest process, and this is not happening in the case of Arbnor.

We will continue to seek his righteousness by legal and institutional means, in the belief that the truth cannot be denied.
