Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani has set the date 12.10.2025 as the day local elections will be held in Kosovo. This decision has been made several days after meeting with representatives of political parties in Kosovo for consultation regarding the appointment of local elections, Periscopi writes.
Some political parties have begun to reveal the candidates, where in most municipalities, the current mayors will also be candidates for a mandate.
But there will be municipalities where current mayors will be replaced by other names.
Periscope has asked LDK deputy Anton Quinn if he intends to run again for the mayor of Prizren.
Quinn briefly said no.
The same one added that the LDK leadership has not yet decided on the candidate's name.
So far, the LDK has announced that the leadership of the branch has unanimously voted Arber Ismajli as the candidate for mayor of the municipality, while in Decan, racing with Luton Mushkolaj.
From the PDK, until now officially in the race are Ramiz Ladrovci for chairman of Drenas, while for Vushtrri it is Ferit Idrizi, who targets another term as mayor of this municipality.
On the other hand, the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo has announced that yet another mandate for mayors will compete Ardian Gjini in Gjakova, Bali Muharremaj in Suhareka, Smajl Latifi in Rahovec, Zenun Elezaj in Cline, and the Ramosaj Union in Decani. The former head of the Peja municipality, Ali Berisha, has received the mandate to compete once again for the head of the municipality.
For the chairman of Novoberda AAK will compete with candidate Avdyli.
On the other hand, the Central Election Commission has announced that on June 26th it will open the deadline for the application of political subjects that will require certificate of participation in local elections for mayors and for Communist countries./Periscopi/
