The United States Ambassador to Russia, Lynn Tracy, has officially left her diplomatic post in Moscow, confirmed today the American Embassy in a statement to the media. It served during one of the most difficult stages in bilateral relations between Washington and Moscow, the international news agency Reuters reported.
Tracy was appointed during the administration of Democrat President Joe Biden and the outcome of her mandate comes at a moment when Russia and the US are considering the possibility of a resumption of relations, which deteriorated significantly after the start of the war in Ukraine in 2022.
Her offspring has not yet been appointed.
During its mandate, Ambassador Tracy has been involved in diplomatic efforts to free American citizens banned in Russia, including journalist Evan Gershkovich and formermarine Paul Whelan. Both were released in August 2024 as part of a broad exchange agreement between Western and East countries.
In a parallel development, former US President Donald Trump said there are opportunities for major investment deals between Russia and the US, however, expressed disappointment over the lack of concrete progress towards a peace agreement to end the war in Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Russian authorities stress that Washington has yet to show willingness to remove barriers that hinder the functioning of embassies in both countries./Periscopi/
