Montenegro's Institute of Public Health (IJZ) has warned the citizens of Ulcinj that because of the increased concentration of nitrites, water from the water supply in this municipality is currently not recommended for drinking, for preparing food and an infant formula. Such a situation, as pointed out by the Institute, occurs from time to time [...]
Such a situation, as pointed out by the Institute, occurs from time to time because of specific changes in water supply or natural conditions, and it is not unusual.
However, to protect health, especially sensitive groups such as young children are important that water not be used temporarily for consumption, including cooking, because nitrites are not removed by thermal treatment. Also, brushing teeth, fruits, and vegetables as well as washing small children with this water is not recommended because of possible accidental swallowing”, stressed IJZ in Public Notification, report Periscope.
It was stressed that competent services are on the ground and are taking all necessary measures to normalise water quality as soon as possible.
They say citizens will be informed of all changes at the right time.
