A tragic event took place on Tuesday evening at Phuket's Karon Beach in Thailand, where an Albanian woman lost her life after drowning at sea just hours after arriving on the tourist island along with her husband.
Local police at the Caron station reported that the victim has been identified as Daniela Idrizi, 41. She was officially declared dead at the Chalong Hospital around 6:00 Tuesday.
According to her husband's testimony, Mohammed Alsaba, 43, from Egypt, the couple had arrived at Phuket the same day about 2: 00 p.m. and were staying in a hotel in the area of Tambon Karon. They had planned a three-day stay on the Thai island.
About 4: 00 p.m., the couple had gone to Karon Beach to rest, when 41-year-old Albanian decided to enter the sea to swim. According to her husband, after about 10 minutes, she began to face water difficulties and drowned before others could be helped, reports Euronews.al, transmton Periscopi.
Coastal guards intervened and threw him out of the water unconscious. She was immediately transported to the Chalong Hospital, where medical personnel made efforts to restore her to life but unfortunately without success.
Local authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the event, while the lifeless body of the deceased is expected to undergo autopsy.
The embassy in Bangkok has been reported and is following relevant procedures for body repatriation and the support of the victim's family. /Periscopi/
