The news has revealed family members on social networks. One of his daughters, Alba, has distributed a picture of his father's arm and said he struggled with the worst disease of the century.
Leka Bungo was born on 28 February 1944 in Vlora and remains one of the most prominent figures in Albanian art, with a rich career in theatre, film and television. He completed an actor's studies at the “Alander Moisiu” and then attended a course directed to the High Institute of Arts.
During his creative years, he worked as a director at the “Bylis” theatre in Fier and later at the State Estrad, where he brought out performances with social thematrics and pronounced satire notes. After the 1990s, he founded the private theatre “Rubairat” near the National Theatre in an effort to bring innovation to the Albanian stage, which still failed to survive long.
In 2002 he emigrated to the United States but continued active in the world of art.
He is the author of several dramas and film scenarios, including “Tabesia” and “Behind the facade”, and has been reminded of the role of Bardhil in the film “A guy and a girl” (1990).
