In a published statement, the Council expresses deep concern for the continuing political stalemate and failure to constitutionalise the Assembly according to the will of citizens.
This institutional paralysis is unwarranted. It undermines public confidence, weakens the state and leaves Kosovo exposed in an increasingly unstable global environment”, the statement said.
The Council welcomes the Constitutional Court's decision and praises the will of political actors to accept it as the legitimate way out.
“Kosovo has a proud tradition of respecting the rule of law and constitutional authority ) this moment requires the same commitment”.
In this case, the Council calls on all parliamentary parties to go to the next session with a sense of urgency and unity, and to reach agreement on electing the Speaker of the Assembly and forming the government without delay. “The country must move forward”, that is the selected message.
The support of the United States is essential but it requires effective governance and continued co-ordination. Kosovo institutions must show maturity and clarity at this crucial moment”, the response follows.
In the end, the Council for Albanian-American Relations reconfirms its commitment to serving as a bridge between Kosovo and the United States, and to amplify the voice of the people and institutions of the Republic of Kosovo. /Periscope/
