At a moment when tensions between Iran and Israel have escalated and missile attacks have raised concerns, the Albanian Ambassador to Israel, Mary Kube, has provided a mirror of the current situation.
She stressed that since 3am yesterday, the embassy has been on full alert and has taken strict security measures, working from houses and standing near the security rooms.
Kurbe stressed that services in Israel are limited, while adding that five Albanian citizens in Israel are being instructed to stay closed near the security chambers.
We're on full alert yesterday at 3:00 in the morning. It's been two nights. The whole embassy staff is fine. The offices have not been opened due to internal security guidelines. We've been working from the houses to make sure we're near security rooms and we're in closed spaces. Services in the country are limited except for necessary services such as supermarkets, pharmacys, hospitals, firefighters and police.
The situation is very difficult, especially last night. We have 5 Albanian citizens in the territory who are mainly located in Israel for work and tourism. We've instructed them to close to the security rooms. We are in constant contact waiting and how events will develop so that it can be possible and the organisation for the evacuation of citizens from the country”, Kube said of Euronews Albania, broadcast Periscope.
Ambassador also underlined that embassy together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tirana has been in constant contact with Albanians in Israel
“We and the staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tirana have been all the time in relation to Albanians in Israel to assist, mainly with instructions during this period. Our priority is for citizens to take real-time instructions”, Mary Kube added.
Asked about Israeli state statements whether there will be other attacks or the situation is under control by Israel, the Albanian ambassador said: “The situation is still an ongoing process. The country's prime minister has declared that it is a war and that it is not an attack right now”. /Periscope
