Albania's ambassador to Israel, Mary Kube, has spoken about the serious situation the country is facing following recent exchanges of missile attacks with Iran.
She said that life in Israelite cities has been paralyzed, while residents strictly follow orders to take refuge.
In fact, as soon as it started, all embassies are available. It's been a rough night. Only when you hear the bombings are difficult, let alone when you experience them. We're strictly following all the rules. It is difficult for us, but also for tourists or people found here for work, unprepared for this situation”, the Albanian diplomat said in an interview for A2 CNN.
According to her, daily life has stopped, schools and offices have been closed, while citizens work from safe spaces.
The only open centers remain pharmacies and supermarkets.
There's no traffic, there's no people on the street. There were injuries in Tel Aviv and other towns around it. There have been victims. In case of attacks, the Israeli system sends an SMS over the phone to warn citizens. New buildings have internal security rooms, while older ones have shelters on the lower floors. For those outside there are defence structures”, Kube explained.
She announced that currently in Israel, five Albanian citizens who were there for work or tourism have been blocked.
Meanwhile, the Albanian community has not expressed a desire to leave.
And we as a diplomatic body follow general rules. We are in constant contact with Albanian citizens and are working to return to Albania. The airport is closed, and so is the sea route. Those who happened to be here tell us: Amman, take us home. Keeping them safe is key to us. So far, only 5 citizens have asked for help to return”, the Ambassador Kube stressed.
According to her, the last 24 have been calmer, with only three alarms recorded in the morning hours. /Periscopi/
