Albania and Serbia are two of the countries in the region that have started to evacuate their citizens from Israel, following the escalation of this state's conflict with Iran.
Kosovo is not known whether it has removed any of its citizens from Israel. Free Europe Radio has been addressed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for information, but has not received answers.
Albania's Minister for Europe and European Affairs, Igli Hasani, has announced that five Albanian citizens -- who have been in Israel for tourist and professional reasons -- have fled through Egypt.
“They are already in Egypt, in good health, and are expected to return to Albania immediately”, Hasani has indicated through a Facebook post.
Albania has no diplomatic relations with Iran since 2022, following a cyber attack Tirana has blamed Tehran for.
Serbian Prime Minister Djuro Macu has not disclosed the exact number of Serbian citizens who have left, but has only declared that “some have been evacuated”.
He has said the government is continuing to implement other measures for Serbian citizens still in Iran and Israel.
The government is monitoring and taking all necessary measures to protect Serbian citizens now in Israel and Iran”, it is said through a communique.
Much of the world's states have instructed their citizens not to travel towards Israel and Iran from the start of direct conflict between them on 13 June.
On that day, Israel has launched attacks at Iran's military and nuclear centres, saying it aims to defeat Iran's possession of a nuclear weapon, since it considers it a threat to its existence.
The attacks have killed at least 224 people in Iran, including high military figures and nuclear scientists.
Iran has retaliated by launching over 370 missiles and hundreds of docks in Israel.
So far it's been reported for 24 people killed. The Israeli Army has said Iran has launched new missiles Tuesday, and the blasts have been heard in northern Israel. / REL/
