The United States has undertaken a co-ordinated and large-scale attack on Iran's main nuclear facilities, using the most advanced military arsenal. The operation marks a significant escalation of tensions and has hit “in a significant way” Iran's nuclear programme.
The attack was carried out with military accuracy using B-2 strategic bombers and Tomahawk floating missiles. The rockets were launched by American naval platforms. According to American media, five to six bombs against bunkers have been used in the operation.
The hit facilities are the plants in the towns of Natanz and Isfahan. At these two points, 30 Tomahawk rockets, released from about 40 miles [640 km] away, have been used.
The third target was the power plant at Fordow, considered the foundation of the Iranian nuclear programme. This plant has been completely destroyed, reports Fox News.
For the realisation of this US attack, a aircraft carrier, F-16s, F-22s, F-35s, and B-2 bombers. Some of the B-2s left for the Pacific after completion of the mission, leaving Iranian airspace ahead of the official announcement.
Bombers B-2 are more important to this mission. These planes use the bomb that destroys the underground bunkers. They are almost invisible to traditional radars and can travel 10,000 miles without supplies.
Military experts say this operation showed the US's ability to conduct long-range precise attacks on important targets and using the most advanced military technology in the world. /Periscope/
