The Kosovo Journalists' Association has welcomed the Supreme Court's decision to abolish the amendment of the Independent Media Commission, which had enabled the president's illegal election of this commission:
“The AGK welcomes the Supreme Party's decision to abolish change in the KPM arrangement. Kosovo Journalists' Association has welcomed the announcement of the Supreme Court of Kosovo that has approved the Kosovo Institute for Justice administrative indictment (IKD) against Independent Media Commission.
The IKD, with the support of civil society organisations, had addressed the indictment after KPM changed its internal regulation to dismiss Jeton Mehmet from the mayor's post, naming Besnik Berisha instead.
The Supreme Judgment finds “that the regulation has been adopted contrary to the principles of the rule of law, transparency and public participation”.
The AGK had illegally deemed amending the regulation, and subsequently against-law the election of Mr. Berisha to the helm of this independent institution.
The AGK commits that this constitutional body of audio-visual media regulation will function in a completely independent manner. ”/Periscopi/
