So it became known through a post on the SKKKUK social network, where, among other things, it writes that in co-operation with the Neurodrogy Clinic and with the support of the Kosovo Hospital Service and University Clinic ( SSKKUK), equipment has been provided and all preconditions for realising this treatment have been met.
“With 2 and 3 key 2025, the first 3 patients selected by the Multidisciplinary Clinic of Neurology team, who have met the criteria for implantation”, the report said.
In addition, it is known that surgery has been carried out in the operating room of the Neurosurgia Clinic, under the leadership of the leading neurosurgeon known by Italy, Dr. Leonardo Fiori (Ospedal di Lecco “Alessandro Manson”), in collaboration with Dr. Faithful Elshani, other neurosurgeons, as well as the support of the anesthesia team from the Anesthesiology Clinic and the neurological monitoring by Dr. Melihate Pusha.
This innovative method applies to patients who, despite the use of two or more anti-leptic drugs, continue to have frequent and severe crises. The treatment with the VNS consists of implanting a device that generates electrical impulses in the Vagus nerve, helping with more effective control of the seizure crisis”, the announcement said.
