Kosovo's Chamber of Commerce and Industry has since begun rejected this decision by the Energy Regulatory Office, urging such a process to be suspended immediately, as this institution itself faces insufficient staff for effective supervision and allegedly for impacts of the dominant operator”, it is said further in their response.
This Chamber of Commerce says that businesses have no public platform for comparing bids, nor right access to contract and condition information.
Our member businesses have announced that the currently being offered energy price is over 200% more expensive. So the DTAK is implementing the petition to collect signatures from all companies that are listed to switch to the free energy market”.
They have called on all companies to sign the petition launched by them.
Before the opening of the energy market in Kosovo, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry requires that these conditions be met first: Legal preparation and clear implementation guidelines, real competition in the market, effective supervision by Z RRE, transparency for consumers, transitional and voluntary phase, as well as guarantees for sustainable and affordable supplies.
According to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry if these points are not met, the opening of the market in the current form except that already, according to them, has confirmed the warning of energy price growth, also brings financial stability to businesses and benefits only to the operator.
No state in Southeast Europe has liberalised the energy market in such a forced, immediate way and no transitional phases, as Z is currently demanding. THREE in Kosovo for business. Therefore, we recommend that the ZERE decision be suspended immediately and revised based on the principles of fair competition, consumer protection and legal and institutional preparation”, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry communique said.
