Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said changes to the German government are not important for Russia, stressing that Germany has largely lost its sovereignty, authority and role on the international stage in recent years.
“There is no reason to expect an improvement in relations between Moscow and Berlin, especially in view of the many militant and Russian statements by German politicians. Russian-German relations have been destroyed almost to the ground for a long time, thanks to (former-cancellari's) government's efforts, Olaf Scholz”, Zakharova stressed, answering a question about the formation of a new government in Germany, TASS reported.
She added that, although there are speculations about possible shipments of cruise missiles to Ukraine, the existence of different opinions between allies and Germany's partners could make it difficult to make a final decision.
It also reminded of earlier shipments of German military equipment to Ukraine, stating that, like war vehicles “Puma” and tanks “Leopard”, “Taurus” “will not save the Ukrainian regime of President Zelensky”.
German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier officially named Friedrich Merz as the new German Chancellor yesterday, after Merz was voted in that position in Bundestag and in the second round of voting.
During the ceremony at the presidential palace, Steinmeier also confirmed the appointments of 17 ministers to the federal government. Brammertz is the 10th Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany./Periscopi/
