Today, VV's 14th attempt to make Haxhi the chief parliamentist, parties suspend the vote

Today it is the 14th effort for the Kosovo Assembly's constitutionalisation, three months after holding general elections. The institutional stalemate continues, with Vetevendosje Movement insisting on Albulen Hadziu's candidacy for Parliament Speaker, though it has not secured enough votes to elect him. At the 58th meeting of the Vetevendosje General Council, incumbent Prime Minister Albin Kurti reaffirmed his party's stance, stressing that this right belongs exclusively to the winning subject of the election.
“The Assembly framework is clear and depoliticised. The Constitutional Court has clarified that the Speaker of the Parliament belongs to the winning party,”, Kurti said.
He said the procedure is formal and does not require coalitions or negotiations.
“A coalition is required. Performing as he has interpreted it, the Court has depoliticised the constitutional session, turning it into a procedure. So there's no need for coalitions and calculations in this constitutional step. What the opposition is doing is the unnecessary blockade that probably aims to create the image of a Kosovo crisis,” he said.
Kurti dismissed any possibility of compromise for Haxhi's name and insisted that his party has offered a legitimate and fair proposal.
“We are not asking the opposition to vote on the government, but the speaker of Parliament. The election of the government is political and we have not proposed the constitution simply a name, we have proposed a woman candidate who is once the most voted woman in the last elections. Some say elsewhere but not Albulen Haxhiun, some say we accept only that or that name, and others say ukahan by the Vetevendosje Movement, but the proposal is ours, not theirs. We are not asking for Albulen to be their proposal, and the Assembly is constitutionalised when the five vice-presidents are also voted,” Kurti stressed.
He also denied any responsibility for the current blockade, blaming the opposition for the obstacles.
We're blocked because we've proposed our candidate. We've already done it. The deadlock comes from those voting against or those who don't,” is over, Kurti./Periscopi/
