Vatican expected to host new Russia negotiations in mid-June

According to reports, even senior American representatives, including Secretary of State and National Security Adviser Marco Rubio, as well as Special Envoy to Ukraine Keith Kellogg, are expected to participate in these talks, reports the Italian agency Ansa.
Pope Leon XIV has earlier declared that the Holy See is ready to host peace negotiations between Moscow and Kiev, offering the parties an opportunity to end the war that continues in 2022.
On the other hand, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stressed that “could not have a ceasefire before negotiations” and that Russia would not allow to be deceived by “propossions for a unilateral ceasefire, and then political solutions”.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Si praised the latest package of European Union sanctions on Russia, saying it has begun to yield clear results, especially in preventing Russian oligarchs from avoiding financial restrictions. /Periscope/
